INDIGESTION – SYMPTOMS AND PREVENTION

Indigestion is uncomfortable to say the least. Never mind the pain and bloating that accompanies its occurrence…no one can sit comfortably at a dinner party, knowing they’re prone to embarrassing excess belching and passing of gas post-meal!

The term ‘indigestion’ is often used to describe a feeling of gaseousness or fullness in the abdomen. It can be attributed to a great many causes, including increased or decreased secretion of acids and other digestive factors and enzymes. Symptoms can include;

  • Abdominal pain
  • Belching
  • Bloating
  • A burning sensation after eating
  • Chronic bowel irritation
  • Constipation or diarrhoea
  • Gas
  • Nausea
  • Rumbling noises
  • Sugar cravings
  • Vomiting

Some simple tips to help avoid indigestion include;

  • Consume well-balanced meals with plenty of fiber-rich foods such a fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
  • Include fresh papaya in your diet (which contains papain) and fresh pineapple (which contains bromelain), as these are good sources of beneficial digestive enzymes.
  • Chew your food thoroughly. Digestion starts in the mouth and chewing signals the rest of the digestive system to prepare to break down the food for absorption.
  • Consume Kolorex Digestive Care Tea 20 minutes after meals. It contains a unique combination of herbs and natural ingredients including Horopito leaf, Peppermint leaf and Anise seed. This calming synergistic tea can help reduce the common symptoms of indigestion in the form of a simple and soothing drink.

Indigestion can be managed by taking a natural and preventative approach, so you don’t need to feel ‘sick to the stomach’ fearing the next untimely moment it may strike!
