What is the key ingredient in the Kolorex® Total Care Range?
The key to the Kolorex® range is Active Horopito™ - high activity specimens of the traditional New Zealand herb, Horopito.
These are grown organically in their natural habitat, and each batch must pass an independent test for activity prior to use in the Kolorex® range.
Is Kolorex® safe?
There is no published record of toxicity due to Horopito (Pseudowintera colorata). This New Zealand herb has a long history of traditional use, both orally and by topical application.
Are Kolorex® products medicines?
No. Kolorex® products are designed to help maintain general well being. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. The information contained on these web pages is not intended to promote Kolorex® products as medicines.
Why have you introduced a new liquid – filled form of Kolorex®?
The human body naturally breaks down supplements into liquids that can be absorbed. Liquid filled Kolorex® Advanced Intestinal Care take advantage of this fact, providing a supplement presentation that provides a gentle action, and offers easy, more natural absorption. In addition, the liquid Active Horopito™ extract has a more gentle action on the stomach. The capsules used in the Advanced Intestinal Care formulation are suitable for vegetarians.
What is Active Horopito™?
This is the name given to our active Horopito extract, which is manufactured using a patented process here in New Zealand. The Active Horopito™ is grown organically on Forest Herbs' own farm, Kaituna, and the kolorXtractTM is prepared using supercritical CO2 extraction. This results in a uniform, high potency extract free from harmful residues. Forest Herbs Research has discovered a five-fold difference in activity between the most active and least active Horopito populations. An effective preparation needs to be based on Horopito derived from one of the 'active' populations. It is Forest Herbs Active Horopito™ that forms the basis for all products in the Total Care Range.
How should I take my Kolorex® Capsules?
We recommend the capsules are taken with food, during a meal and wash down well with a glass of water.
How long can I keep taking Kolorex® Capsules?
They can be taken long term without problems, however as part of a tailored Candida management protocol it may be useful to alternate Kolorex® Capsules with other suitable products. We would suggest that you discuss long-term usage with your health care professional.
How is Kolorex® tested?
Each batch of Horopito is independently tested, and must pass a University laboratory test for activity before it is used.
What precautions should I take?
Although there is no evidence of teratogenicity, as a precaution Kolorex® Advanced Intestinal Care Capsules / Kolorex Mouth and Throat Care Tea are not recommended during pregnancy.
Can I take Kolorex® products with other herbal or prescription medicines?
As with all herbal products, if you are currently taking other medicines of any kind, you should consult your health care professional before commencing a course of Kolorex® capsules.

Kolorex Intimate Care Cream / Kolorex Foot and Toe Care Cream feel hot when I apply them to my skin. Why is this?
The creams in the Kolorex® Total Care range all contain kolorXtract™. This natural plant extract is manufactured from New Zealand Horopito, a herb which is naturally 'hot' This sensation can be quite sharp if applied to sensitive, damaged tissue.
Are there any precautions with the cream?
The plant oils in Kolorex® Cream may weaken condoms and diaphragms.
Kolorex® Capsules make me feel unwell.
Occasionally, it has been reported that some individuals may experience a felling of nausea after taking Kolorex® Capsules, particularly for the first time. This may be due to the naturally hot Horopito (similar to cayenne pepper), or it may be due to a Herxheimer (yeast die-off) reaction. This feeling is usually mild and transient. We recommend however that if this feeling persists, that you consult your health care professional.
I used to be able to buy Kolorex® Capsules in a different form. Why have you changed?
Since Kolorex® capsules were introduced, we have continually updated the product according to consumer demand, and local market requirements and regulations. As a result, not all forms of Kolorex® are available in all markets. Can I use Kolorex® products for children?
There is limited published data on the use of Kolorex® Capsules in children. We recommend that usage in children should be under the advice of your health care professional.
I have taken a course of Kolorex® Intestinal Care capsules, and there is no difference in my condition. What do I do?
