It's in Our Nature
Peter Butler, is both Founder & owner of Forest Herbs Research, and Chairman of HealthPost Nature Trust. Golden Bay.
Working on his Golden Bay farm and nearby environment, for three decades, has given Peter and his children a deep and abiding love and respect for the land and a long view of what can be achieved.
Trust The Process
Every year, Peter and the NatureTrust work closely with HealthPost staff, local Iwi, volunteers and the Department of Conservation, on projects from native tree planting to wildlife restoration.
So far, 16,000+trees (and growing) have been planted providing shelter and habitat for threatened bird species to flourish at Wharariki – Farwell Spit, Golden Bay. Other achievements include building a three-hectare predator-proof fence, and nesting projects to bring seabirds back to the mainland.
There’s always a busy schedule of programmes underway to restore biodiversity in our natural environment. .
Re-introducing native seabirds
Work has been ongoing to reintroduce seabirds such as Pakahā (Fluttering Shearwater) and Fleshfooted Shearwater to the Wharariki Ecosanctuary. Our team of conservation experts and volunteers support these precious seabirds so they can once again flourish in their natural habitat.
